Is it OK yo say “小姐”?

Some of my Chinese speaking friends says nowadays it's very rude to call young lady a “小姐”, but it's still in the word list of HSK level 1.

Maybe it depends on the region or generation.

Is it rude or is it OK to use this word? Thanks.

But if you are a lady, all is ok. If you are a gentleman, try not to use 小姐 alone.

I see. So it's OK for women to use. May be I should avoid that word. Thanks!

小姐is a obscure way to express bich, it has more than one meaning, so it's the reason.

I personally think that it's not rude.. but use 美女/女士(this one is very formal) to be safe
